01. How do I apply a job in Railways through Railway Recruitment Board ?
One has to go through
the Centralised Employment Notices published from time to time in
various National / Regional Newspapers and Employment News / Rozgar
Samachar published by Publication Division, Govt. of India & Web
site of various Railway Recruitment Boards. One has to apply within the
validity of the said Employment Notice to the Concerned Railway
Recruitment Board only.
02. How do I know
about the details of the post for which recruitment is notified?
The Centralised Employment
Notification (CEN) showing the name of the posts, qualification
and other details are published in Employment /Rozgar Samachar
from time to time. Indicative Notification retaliating to a CEN
is also published in various national, regional and local
newspapers indicating the brief of post(s) notified in the CEN
inviting attention of prospective candidates to the particular
issue of Employment News. This may also be seen on RRB website in
'Employment Notice' sub-menu under 'Recruitment' main-menu at
home page. Further, the entire CEN is also published in the
website of Rojgar Samachar (Employment News).
03. How to get
application form. Is there any laid down format for caste
certificate, etc?
The application from in two
pages is published in Employment News as a part of the
Employment Notification. It is given in 1:1 form so that it can
be directly photocopied in A4 size paper to use as blank
application form. The proforma of other certificates like vision
test, caste certificate, EBC certificates etc. are also
published along with the Notification so that same can be
followed for production while applying for a post. These can
also be downloaded from this website in respective CEN link at
'Employment Notice' sub-menu under 'Recruitment' main-menu at
home page. Further there is facility of On-line application in
this website where an applicant can fill up the required
information and takeout a print out of the filled in application
in two pages.
04. What care I
should take while filling-up the application form?
Read the employment notice
carefully to know the rules and regulations, eligibility
criteria etc. before filling-up the application form. Attach
copies of all the required certificates duly attested by
Gazetted officer. Ensure that proper fee in the form of IPO or
Demand Draft is submitted along with the application. The Demand
Draft should be from a Nationalized Bank with a validity of not
less than 6 months. The IPO purchase date should not be prior to
the date of notification. Make sure that you have filled-in all
the required details in the application form. Make sure that the
format of application form / caste certificate is same as
notified. Make sure to affix a recent passport size colour
photograph on the application form. Make sure to sign and put
your Left Thumb Impression at predefined places on both the
pages of application from.
05. Can I apply for
more than one RRB?
Yes, one can apply to more than one RRB. But,
as per the present system, the written examination for a
particular post or group of posts is conducted simultaneously by
all RRBs on the same date. So, the candidate at his/her risk may
apply to more than one RRB.
06. What is the
application fee for the various categories?
For SC, ST, Ex-Servicemen and Physically handicapped candidates,
there is no application fee. Fee is also exempted for Women,
Economically Backward Classes and Minorities.
For posts having below Grade Pay Rs.2800, Fee is Rs.40/-.
For the post having Grade Pay above Rs.2800, Fee is Rs.60/-
07. What is the mode
of payment of application fee?

The application fee can be
submitted in the form of IPO or Demand Draft.

The IPO purchase date should
not be prior to the date of notification.

Cash/Money order or any other
form of fee is not acceptable.

The Demand Draft should be
issued by any Nationalized Bank only.
08. How should I send
my application to RRB?
The application form should be sent either through ordinary post
or dropped in the specific box provided at the office of RRB. Applications sent through speed post, registered post,
courier will not be acknowledged.
09. How do I know the schedule of the examination?
When an examination is
scheduled to be held, the date and time of examination is notified in
Employment News/Rozgar Samachar as well as in various National, Regional
and Local Newspapers. Further, the exam schedule may also be seen on
this website in 'Examination Schedule' sub-menu under 'Recruitment'
main-menu at Home page. RRB also sends call-letters to eligible
candidates by post for the examination scheduled and letters of
rejection to the ineligible candidates. These are dispatched to the
candidates one month before the scheduled date. This notification is
also put up on the notice board of RRB/Bhubaneswar.
10. What if I do not receive any communication from RRB
for the examination?
The eligibility status of the
application can be seen from “Eligible / Ineligible Candidate List for
appearing in examination” link available below “Programme update” window
at Homepage of this website or contact RRB on telephone
nos. listed in “Contact us” menu of this website. RRB also sets up
special enquiry counter at the office of RRB one day prior to the date
of Written Examination where duplicate/corrected call-letter is also
issued to the candidates who have not received the same due to postal
delay/missing. Fresh call-letter is also issued to candidates whose
application has been rejected on wrong grounds. For this the candidate
has to produce the required certificate on this day in support of
his/her claim. The date(s) of enquiry counter operation is notified
along with the Exam schedule.
11. How do I know the cause of rejection of my application?
This can only be seen in our website against 'Eligible/Ineligible candidate List for
appearing in Examination' sub-menu under 'Recruitment' main-menu at the
Home page. The code of rejection and its detail can also be seen from
'various causes of rejection' link of the Home page. The cause of
rejection of an applicant is also communicated through rejection letter
to the applicant after the examination is scheduled to be held.
12. How do I know about the status of my application?
You can know the
application receipt status in "Application Status" sub-menu under
"Recruitment" main-menu or in "Programme Update" at Home Page of this
website. The eligibility status of your application can be known one
week in advance of the date of written exam from the same website at
“Eligible / Ineligible Candidate List for appearing in examination”
sub-menu under “recruitment” main-menu.
13. What is the minimum qualifying marks?
The minimum qualifying marks are as follows:
UR, UR(Ex-Serviceman) and UR(PH) - 40%
SC/OBC, SC/OBC(Ex-Serviceman) and SC/OBC(PH) - 30%
ST, ST(Ex-Serviceman) and ST(PH) - 25%
However, result is published as per merit according to the number of vacancies available against different communities.

15. How do I know about the status of my application?
After the written
examination / aptitude test / skill test, as applicable, the list of
short listed candidates are published in Employment News /Rozgar
Samachar and also in various National, Regional and Local Newspapers.
Further, these results may also be seen on this website at the 'Results'
sub-menu under 'Recruitment' main-menu at the Home page. Results are
also displayed on the notice board of RRB, Bhubaneswar. Candidates whose
roll numbers are not in the list are deemed to be out of zone of
consideration.
16. hat is the procedure for registering online application?
Click on the “ON LINE
APPLICATION” button on home page of this website. This will open a form.
Candidate has to fill up requisite information step by step and finally
submit. Computer will generate the filled in application form in two
pages in pdf format which either can be downloaded and then a print out
is taken. The candidate is then required to paste one recent passport
size photo, put signature and LTI on both pages at predefined places.
Then send this application along with required fees and attested copies
of required certificates to RRB, Bhubaneswar.
17. What is the procedure for registering online application?
One has to go through
the Employment Notifications published in Employment News / Rozgar
Samachar and the Indicative Employment Notifications published in
National/Local Newspapers published by various Railway Recruitment
Boards from time to time. One can also follow the Employment
Notifications (Subsequent to paper notification) uploaded in the website
of Railway Recruitment Boards. If the desired post is notified one has
to apply within the validity (by the closing date) of the said
Employment Notice to the Concerned Railway Recruitment Board only.
