RRB Technician 2012 written exam paper pattern & Selection Process

Date of RRB Technicians Written Exam: 16.12.2012
RRB Technicians 2012 Selection Process: Selection is made strictly as per merit, on the basis of written examination. Short-listed candidates will be called for verification of original documents according to merit, availability of vacancies and reservation rules.
RRB Technician 2012 written exam Question paper pattern
The standard of questions for the RRB Technician 2012 written examinations will be generally in conformity with the educational standards and/or technical qualifications prescribed for the posts.
Duration of the RRB Technician 2012 examination will be 90 minutes with approximately 100 questions.
The Questions will be of objective type with multiple choice and are likely to include questions pertaining to General Awareness, Arithmetic, General Intelligence and reasoning and Technical Ability.
The question paper will be in English, Hindi, Urdu and local languages.
Note: There shall be negative marking in written examination and marks shall be deducted for each wrong answer @1/3 of the marks allotted for each question.

1. General Awareness: This part of question paper gauges the candidates is up to date with surrounding and includes the following:

  • Awards and Honours
  • Science - Inventions and Discoveries
  • Abbreviations

2. Arithmetic Ability: This part of exam is usually checks the quantitative and mathematical skills of the candidates and following is the topics from which the questions asked:

  • HCF, LCM
  • Simplification
  • Decimal Fractions
  • Ratio and Proportions
  • Unitary Method
  • Percentage
  • Time and Distance
  • Time and Work

3. Technical Ability - This is generally the questions that includes the knowledge of the candidates about the profession and some technical questions which may be tricky.
4. Test of Reasoning/Mental Ability/Aptitude: This part usually tries to test the reasoning abilities and Gauges aptitude of the person. It includes the following:
